This unusual Japanese fern has a long uncut terminal pinnae some 20-30cm in length and two or three pairs of uncut side pinnae. A most magnificent fern from the Himalayas and Japan, although named after the Danish botanist Nathaniel Wallich. Cyclamen hederifolium is very easy to grow in any well drained shaded spot and is one of the most tolerant of the driest dry shade. Looks glorious in drifts under deciduous trees. Plants at 20cm centres and at the same depth as the pots. Summer dormant.

Not entirely our normal fare but simply a superb wallichiana hybrid. Large clear blue white-eyed flowers with purple veins, in masses all Summer and often into early November. Typically floppy. When happy in a good fertile soil, with some sun, it can make 60cm tall and spread to 80cm or so, and will be incredibly beautiful for many months.
